Part 3: Nourished From the Inside Out

#1. REGULARLY CONNECTING TO OUR WISDOM

The nerve system controls and coordinates every cell in your body, which means if there's a blockage it could have an impact on your resilience. As a chiropractor, we do this through chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Russ and I check each other regularly, as well as our children, who have all been adjusted since the day they were born. Because the nerve system is directly connected to the immune system, it's an integral way to assure the body is optimally functioning on many levels.

#2. ENJOY LIFE

I used to have an "all work and no play" mindset. Now, it's more common that I structure my life around my fun. It's amazing how much every family member thrives when I am having fun. I have been ice-skating, rollerblading, and dancing every week. I love being able to be active with my family and they feel the joy that I feel, too. Joy alone boosts the immune system. Our kids all have passions of their own that allow them to flourish at this time of year.

#3. EAT WITH AWARENESS

Not only eating a meal, but shopping for, and preparing our meals in presence contributes to our nourishment. I tune into how I feel during all of these activities and allow love to flow. I picture the foods that my family will enjoy eating, make eye contact with the cashier when I pay and feel the appreciation for being able to make a meal for my family during meal preparation. Eating a meal in love, rather than distraction assists with proper digestion and assimilation of foods in ways that boost the immune system.
